Slime guide
Best Slime for Kids by Age
Choosing slime for a child is mostly about how easy the texture is to handle. Here's how we'd match our slimes to different ages, based on our own Beginner, Intermediate and Expert texture levels.
First: the age on the label
Our slime is for ages 3 and up. It may contain small parts, such as charms, beads and toppers, that can be a choking hazard, and slime is not edible. Younger children should play with an adult nearby. The suggestions below are about which textures are easiest to enjoy, not official age ratings.
Ages 3 to 5: soft, non-sticky textures
Start with cloud creme. It's thick, soft and non-sticky, so it's easy for small hands and less likely to end up stuck to fingers or clothes. Unicorn Whip, De-Stress Dough and Coconut Frosting are good choices. A plain slime without lots of charms is a sensible pick, and an adult can help with opening the jar and putting it away.
Slime for 6- to 8-year-olds
By this age most kids love a bit more stretch. Cloud creme is still a great choice, and butter slimes such as Strawberry Milk, Mango Smoothie and Blueberry Swirl are the natural next step: smooth, spreadable and fun to swirl. Fluffy cloud slimes like Cotton Candy Delight and Melon Freeze are popular too. DIY clay-kits make a fun activity, especially with a parent or friend.
Ages 9 to 12: crunch, pop and clay-kits
Older kids often want slime for the sounds and textures. Crunchy bingsu slimes (Frozen Blue Slush, Apple Crunch, Pink Sugar), jelly cube slimes (Watermelon Squish, Mango Chunks) and clay-kits such as Teddy's Dream Cloud or HoneyComb are great picks. These have clear bases or more parts, so keep the activator spray handy.
Teens and adults: clear and ASMR slimes
Clear slime is our expert texture: glassy, very stretchy and the stickiest to start with. Crystal Clear, Crystal Coast and Lavender Glow suit experienced slime fans, and the 6-Pack ASMR Slime Bundle is a great way to try lots of crunchy textures at once.
Not sure?
The 6-Pack Textured Slime Bundle includes six different textures in 2oz jars, so a child can try them all and find a favourite. Or choose a Mystery Slime at the Beginner level.
